An interesting development in the application of the technology of "innovative" products is represented by the membranes designed and produced for refurbishments. Our experience teaches that in refurbishment operations it is generally difficult to have surfaces properly prepared: often the "old" roof is covered by bituminous membranes with mineral self-protection (slates or granules), whose characteristics are unknown. Slate is itself a release agent, therefore, it makes it difficult to apply on it a new bituminous waterproofing layer, preventing the total adhesion of the restoration layer. It can cause phenomena of "reptation" also on the new felt.
Viapol Re_Structura: Tradition and Innovation
We therefore followed our idea of designing and manufacturing
VIAPOL MAXI PROJECT RE_STRUCTURA, which is a polymer-bitumen membrane designed
for the functional renewal of existing self-protected waterproofing membranes. The compound based on distilled bitumen modified with synthetic elastoplastomeric polyolefin altopolymers and additives, is reinforced with a non-woven polyester stabilized with glass fibers. This specific membrane is characterized by excellent mechanical characteristics, dimensional stability and durability. The waterproofing mass offers important characteristics of resistance to u.v rays, resistance to thermal changes, resistance to ozone and chemical agents (acids and salts).
The particular compound makes unnecessary to apply a saturating and compacting primer coat. VIAPOL MAXI PROJECT RE_STRUCTURA allows, in the flame drawing phase, to penetrate and saturate the mineral self-protection of the membrane placed in its direct contact.
VIAPOL MAXI PROJECT RE_STRUCTURA advantages:
- Innovative products with less use of raw materials with relative lower consumption for production and transport costs.
- Less waste at the end of life.
- Minimization of the weight increase (single layer applications) and the increase of thermal inertia of the system.
- Products made with recycled raw materials.
- No need for a bituminous primer or a fixative.
- Greater laying speed and application efficiency.
- Less need for manpower.
- Possibility to keep the existing old membranes on the roof in favor of important environmental and disposal savings.
- Valuable aesthetic value for exposed roofs or "cool roofs".
- Strong reduction of errors and laying imperfections.
- Excellent resistance to U.V.
