Viapol Techno Guardian membranes combine in one product the best characteristics of a waterproofing layer, adhesion for insulation, drainage and protection properties in tanking systems. This unique combination of characteristics is made possible because of
the pattern of dimples on the upper side of the membrane.
Viapol Techno Guardian possesses a high puncture resistance compared with a most other protection and drainage systems and replaces the adhesives required to adhere insulation boards to the vapour barrier or vapour check membrane.
VIAPOL TECHNO GUARDIAN BVP APPLICATION
Viapol Techno Guardian BVP have bituminous dimples on the top side wich are used to bond the insulation and can be used with most insulations with a good heat transfer resistance, such as PUR or PIR boards. The choice of product depends on the humidity of the building.
Viapol Techno Guardian BVP should be fully bonded by torch application to a bitumen primed decking (Viabit or Viabit Plus).
In the case of a timber deck where direct application of a naked flame is to be avoided a sacrificial layer of Viapol Techno Phase thermoadhesive underlay should be considered before the vapour barrier. By simply melting the dimples with a moderate torching action a safe and even adhesion for the insulation boards will the be provided.
The system then would be as specified including the use of a Vetrofor venting layer particularly with polyurethane. In case of wood decking (timber, plywood, OSB, etc.) and particularly on sloped surfaces, the selvadges should be secured to the decking using suitably spaced mechanical fixings before torching the overlap areas. Rolls should be overlapped along the lenght.
20cm wide bonding strips should be cut from any polyester reinforced Viapol 4mm thick membrane and fixed by torch application, or nailed in case of a timber deck where direct application of a naked flame is to be avoided. Of course bonding strips are not required in case of Viapol Techno Phase thermoadhesive underlay has been used. The end laps (short sides) should be butt jointed and torched to the bonding strip.
