RADON
Radon is a natural radioactive gas , odor, taste and color free: it comes from the radioactive uranium decay. Radon is one of the oldest natural elements on earth and it is equally distributed on the earth's crust, although its concentration is different from place to place. Its inhalation could cause serious diseases.
- It is a gas , such as the air we breathe
- It is odor and color free - it is therefore difficult to verify its presence without specific instruments
- It is radioactive
VETROASFALTO SOLUTION
Vetroasfalto has developed the polymer bitumen waterproofing membranes Viapol Techno Sphera BVP and Viapol Techno Sphera BVP Plus
These products (in their 4mm versions) have been specifically designed to solve the problems related to the radon atoms disintegration. These membranes, obtained certifications n. 0150 \ FPM \ Mats \ 10 and 0150 \ FPM \ Mats \ 10_2 confirming their full efficency counteracting the negative radon effects.
THE COMPOUND
A polymer bitumen compound containing the reinforcement is a result of a particular chemical formulation conceived to meet the needs of high quality product.
Thanks to meticulous selection of raw materials and severe controls during manufacturing process the product’s durable quality is guaranteed.
SUPPORT
The inlays are represented by an embossed aluminum foil combined to a reinforced glassfiber carrier (BVP PLUS version), or a nonwoven aluminized reinforced polyester, (BVP version) . The characteristics of radon gas permeability include two reference thresholds:
- the first, defined as " absolute " leads to a value of less than 0.1 cm ³ / m² x 24h x atm (BVP PLUS version )
- the second , defined as "optimal" determines a value less than 10 cm ³ / m² x 24h x atm ( BVP version ) .
Viapol Techno Sphera BVP PLUS represents an absolute radon barrier.
Viapl Techno Sphera BVP is suitable for use as vapour barrier in any thermal-waterproofing systems.
