Viapol MAXI Project White Flash


Cool Roofs are roofing systems capable of reflecting solar radiation and keeping them "fresh".

This is due to the characteristics of the reflective and highly emissive materials used which reflect the solar radiation towards the sky. As a consequence of the fact that the roofs remain cooler, the amount of heat that is transferred inside the building is reduced, maintaining a lower and constant temperature in the confined spaces. This new way of designing and building roofs is functional to counteracting the effect of urban heat islands (Urban Heat Island).



In large cities the temperature, both in summer and in winter, is higher than in nearby rural areas.The effects of urban heat islands are a phenomenon that occurs in highly urbanized areas and can be summarized as follows:
  • Roofs and road surfaces are heated due to solar radiation and reach very high temperatures.
  • In the sunniest hours, the streets and roofs of houses can often reach temperatures above 60-90 ° C.
  • Buildings and asphalt release heat into the air, during the day and also at night.
  • The air temperature always remains 4-5 ° C and above higher than in the surrounding countryside.
  • Furthermore, urban soil has a poor ability to retain water; this results in less evaporation, which further reduces the cooling of the air near the ground.

 
Who owns a COOL ROOF cover has a series of advantages including:
  • Lower summer air conditioning costs, the temperature in the lower surface drops by 3/4 ° C.
  • Greater well-being inside buildings.
  • Lower fatigue stresses of the roof structure.
  • Less physical and chemical degradation of materials (waterproofing, insulating, etc.).
  • Better performance of any photovoltaic systems on the roof.

  • Reduction of electricity consumption and carbon dioxide release.
 

 Where it is convenient to install a COOL ROOF:
  • In areas where the climate is warm and sunny for most of the year.
  • For low-rise buildings with high plan extension.
  • If the consumption of the air conditioning system is high and / or summer comfort is insufficient.
  • If there is a photovoltaic system for energy production.
  • When there are problems of thermal fatigue of the structures.


 
The top side finish of VIAPOL MAXI PROJECT WHITE FLASH in high reflecting white mineral slate granules. “White Flash Granules” are obtained through a two-step production process. The first step consists of a ceramisation and U.V.  stabilising phase; in the second step of the production process the basic white colour is further highlighted and enhanced.


 
Viapol MAXI Project White Flash,  is provided with a burn off polypropylene film for use in standard torch on applications. In addition a special version with UPTEX polypropylene fleece is also available for cold adhesive applications
