VIAPOL IGROPOL PLUS represents a technological solution in the field of polymer bitumen special membranes, available for today’s highly demanding contruction market. During the development and manufacturing process, Vetroasfalto has considered the beneficial characteristics required by the end user to apply such a special product.VIAPOL IGROPOL PLUS is a prefabricated waterproofing membrane, based on distilled bitumen modified by plastomeric polymers manufactured for special applications. The APP compound is reinforced with an aluminium foil combined with a glassfiber mat. The special plastomeric compound gives the highest flexibility characteristics at low temperatures.
USE AND APPLICATION
Viapol Igropol PLUS can be used as vapour barrier where relative humidity is very high.
The problem of water vapour transmission, coupled with a proper waterproofing of the buildings, is extremely important. The barrier is particularly suitable under insulation layers in order to preserve their duration as almost all insulating materials might be permeated by vapour easily. In fact the vapour that accumulates in the coldest area of the roofing condenses inside the insulation layer which loses its insulating properties. Igropol represents an extra layer which is resistant to vapour diffusion and must be installed below the thermal insulation.
Viapol Igropol PLUS has the lower side covered with a special polyethylene anti-adhesive film to be torched during application. The substrate must be dry, clean and smooth. The membrane is applied by torching it with a light propane gas flame. Application is very easy due to the very flexible APP compound.
STORAGE
In storage rolls must be placed vertically not to be stacked more than two high.
They should be kept in a covered area and protected from adverse weather and U.V. radiation. Whenever the material is stored outdoors on pallets and in conditions of elevated environmental temperatures, it is necessary to make openings in the shrinkable polyethylene protective covering so as to enable the circulation of air among the rolls and to prevent damage from overheating due to the “green house” effect. The handling of the rolls during loading and unloading operations must be undertaken with care so as not to compromise future use of the material.
APPLICATION
A deck surface should be prepared accurately (all the incrustation and roughness removed).
Bituminous primer ViaBit should be coated.
The rolls should be aligned, with lap joints of at least 8,5cm.
They should be melted with an appropriate propane torch.
The end laps should be heated and refinished with a heated trowel.
If the bituminous membrane is not protected with paving, a layer of ViaAlu or ViaCril should be coated over it.
