The CE marking is a compulsory requirement for marketing and free circulation of a product on the European Markets, according to the European Directive Division: Directive 89/106/CE, Construction materials. The aim is to protect the end user in compliance with all requirements set by the above mentioned Directive .
This obligation for the Manufacturer is in place:
Since September 1st 2006:
The Manufacturer has the obligation to implement all factory production controls. All manufacturing processes must be subjected to specific procedures. Also, a number of tests must be carried out to ensure compliance with the standards set by the norms. Frequently, a company who is certified according to a Quality System ISO 9000, has already complied with most of these requirements. Once the Manufacturer has fulfilled all his obligations, an Approved Body will issue a Certificate of Production Control, or a Certificate of Compliance, and the Manufacturer will be entitled to put the CE mark on his product.
It is a responsibility of the end user to use each single product for its intended use and in compliance with the manufacturer's specifications. The technical information supplied by the manufacturer specifies the intended use of the product .
